ERYC Welcome Spaces Grants
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Do it for East Yorkshire Community Grant can provide funding for community groups wanting to open up their venues as ‘welcoming spaces’.
Organisations and community groups who have applied for the maximum grant award previously are now eligible to apply for further funding specifically for ‘welcoming spaces’ activity only.
‘Welcoming spaces’ are open to all residents, providing a warm welcome to people from all backgrounds and circumstances. They are places where people can gather to relax, engage in activities, socialise as a community, and access support. Community buildings wishing to open their venues on a regular basis to residents to provide a ‘welcoming space’, refreshments and/or activity are now eligible to apply for funding via the Do it for East Yorkshire Community Grant.
Applicants may apply for a grant between £1,500 and £5,000. Activity must be regular and sustainable. For example, this includes lunch clubs and exercise groups.
Existing venues such as village halls, community centres, food banks and groups should demonstrate that they will provide activities or resources to support a ‘welcoming space’, in order to apply for help towards energy costs to help them “keep their doors open”. Funding is not available for venue hire or staff costs to run this type of activity
Delivery of activity can run until March 2023.
Eligible costs can include:
- cost of refreshments – food and drink
- cost of equipment for activities
- sessional staff to provide activity
- contribution towards energy costs
- volunteer expenses
Ineligible costs:
- alcohol
- existing staff costs
- prizes associated with raffles, bingo etc
- venue costs
You will have until Monday December 5th to apply for this activity.
