Beverley Food Festival Award 2015

The tenth Beverley Food Festival on Sunday 4th October from 9.30am-4.00pm will feature a full line-up of award winners, with local food producers, chefs, stallholders, and the event itself receiving Awards from the East Yorkshire Local Food Network.

The winners were revealed at a presentation evening held at Beverley Tickton Grange on Tuesday 22nd September. Beverley Food Festival and the East Yorkshire Local Food Network worked in partnership to host the Awards, which saw a record number of entries.

Award categories included ‘Best Savoury Baked Product’, won by Vanessa’s Deli for its Steak Pie, ‘Best Alcoholic Drink’, won by Great Newsome Brewery,  for its ‘Frothingham Best’ and’ Best Confectionery’, won by Patrick’s Macarons for its macarons.

Beverley Food Festival was given the accolade of ‘Best Local Food & Drink Award’. It is the second time the event has been given this Award, receiving it for the first time in 2013.

Helen Watson, Town Clerk said: “We are delighted to have been given this award for the Best Local Food & Drink Event in East Yorkshire. We work hard to support local producers, and the Beverley Food Festival provides a great showcase for their delicious produce.

“This ethos of keeping it local is also shown in the support we gratefully receive for the Beverley Food Festival from local businesses Wykelands, EY Events, Beverley Building Society, and internet service provider KC.”

Helen continued: “There will be regular updates on social media about the event in advance and on the day, so follow us @bevtowncouncil or visit our website

“Also, we have created a special brochure, which will be available at the Food Festival, to commemorate its tenth anniversary. The brochure will contain all the details and timings of the events throughout the day. It will also include a list of stallholders so that people can continue to buy local food and drink all through the year.

“Please come along to the Beverley Food Festival and help us to celebrate our tenth year in style.”

Mayor of Beverley Cllr Peter Astell said: “This is a great result for the Beverley Food Festival, which is in its tenth year.  Beverley Town Council is proud to host this Food Festival as a free to attend community event, which celebrates local produce, its growers and producers. It also helps to enhance the local economy, by bringing residents and visitors into the town, where they can enjoy food, festivities and fun.

“To commemorate the tenth Beverley Food Festival, there is a special photography competition, and we hope that people of all ages will join in the fun. There’s a wonderful prize hamper containing delicious local food and drink to be won!

“Taking part in the photography competition is simple; just come along to the Beverley Food Festival on Sunday 4th October, any time between 9.30am and 4.00pm, take some photographs and send them to Beverley Town Council by the deadline of 31st October. The photos can be sent by post, or by email to The photograph that best captures the event will be awarded the prize hamper.”
